Colchester and Tendring Women’s Refuge is one of our two chosen charities to support this year. The Refuge is run by an amazing team who work so hard to provide emergency accommodation, help and advice to women and children who are the subject of domestic abuse.

Monies that we raise will be used to supply the help the Refuge with personal items for the Women who are taken in by the centre as quite often they can arrive with no provisions at all. In addition, we intend to purchase toys for the elder children.

   Shopmobility (Colchester)

Colchester Shopmobility provides hand propelled/electric wheelchairs and scooters to help people who are limited in their mobility due to disablement, illness, accident or age. It allows them to shop and independently enjoy the facilities that Colchester Town Centre has to offer.

They make a difference to many lives as anybody who is usually housebound gains the freedom of choice for a few hours out. The scheme is run by volunteers.

Unfortunately, the charity is at risk. The will shortly be losing their annual grant and there are concerns that the service could be forced to close.

For this reason Colchester Ladies Circle has decided to assist and raise funds to keep this valuable service running.
